This week we welcome two new RR groups.  David Setser and David Duffy have started groups in Salt Lake City and San Mateo California.  Here are links to their sites:

San Mateo, California: http://www.meetup.com/Recovering-From-Religion-San-Mateo-Santa-Clara/members/11843778/

This was a banner week for RR.  20 RR members attended the Nate Phelps speech in Topeka, Kansas on Saturday and on Sunday 27 RR members attended a BBQ at Darrel’s house along with Nate Phelps and a film crew from The Richard Dawkins Foundation.  They filmed a lot of the interaction with Nate at the BBQ and interviewed a few people.  We hope to see some mention of RR in the upcoming documentary.  RR was the only other sponsor for Nate’s speech along with the Richard Dawkins Foundation and the Topeka Metropolitan Church.  675 people attended the event and gave Nate a standing ovation before he even  began speaking and again when he finished.  Nate’s speech was very moving.  Here is a link to the news report on the event:

Nate’s story, while extreme, is not unlike many who have escaped religion.
